The COVID-19 pandemic crippled the economy in some parts of the U.S. in 2020, but access to treatment for injured workers remained relatively unchanged from the previous year, according to data presented Tuesday by the Workers Compensation Research Institute at its annual conference.
There was no evidence of delays in medical treatment for claims with injury dates in the first two quarters of 2020 compared with 2019, and the average number of days from an injury to treatment on non-COVID time-loss claims actually stayed the same or improved, said WCRI economist Olesya Fomenko.
